    History

India is topped by the world's tallest mountain range, the beautiful Himalayas, which forms a boundary between India, Central Asia, Tibet and China. India's earliest known civilization dates back to 1700BC. India has had many influences from different countries due to immigration, and invasion. India was a country of rich culture and economic stability until the British invasion. Once the colonization of the British began, they took advantage of the people, and exploited its industries. Although India gained its independence in 1947, progress has been slow in re-gaining its economic stability. Today, over 1 billion people reside in India, 2nd largest in the world, and it's the 7th largest country in the world. Over 80% of the Gross National Product comes from the agriculture industries. The major cities in India are New Delhi, Calcutta, Mumbai, and Madras.
