Taekwondo
Takewondo, Korea's traditional martial art, is an internationally recognized sport which has become popular across the world. It is aimed at training not only one's mind and body, but also at building one's character. It is a high-level martial art which focuses on self defense rather than on attacking. It was designated as a demonstration sport during the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games and adopted as a medal sport during the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. There are many programs designed to give people a chance to experience Taekwondo. Taekwondo watching, and one-day or three-day package programs in which participants can learn various skills and techniques of Taekwondo are offered. Those who are interested in participating in these programs can apply through travel agencies.
Hoki Taekwondo
The Hoki Taekwondo cultural experience program consists of courses on Taekwondo etiquette, Taekwondo demonstrations, basic movements of Taekwondo, self-defense techniques, board breaking and Taekwondo form. After the completion of the program, a graduation ceremony is held for participants. People can choose from two types of one-day programs: a four-hour and a six-hour course. During the program, lunch is provided, along with mementoes that include a Taekwondo uniform and a black belt, an honorary membership card and a certificate of graduation.
