• Korean Folk Village
 The Korean Folk Village recreates the
lifestyle of the Joseon Dynasty. In the village, there are common people's
houses from different parts of the country, an oriental medicine house, houses
for the study of Chinese characters, a blacksmith's house, a handicraft room, a
pottery oven and a marketplace. You will also find a 99-room mansion, reflecting
the luxurious life style of the yangban (aristocrat) class, and a government
office. At the market, Korean traditional food and side dishes such as barbecued
dried pollack, mung bean pancakes, green onion pancakes and traditional Korean
alcoholic beverages are sold.

• Hahoe Village
 Hahoe Village is home to famous
yangban families around Andong. Yangban refers to the noble class during the
Joseon period (1392-1910). About 130 traditional houses, large and small, from
those of both nobility and commoners, have been well-preserved by the same
families for generations. Hahoe has been designated by the government as a
historic preservation site. The village is known for a special form of mask
dance drama, Hahoe Byeolsingut Talnori.

• Seong-eup Folk Village
 Seong-eup Folk Village, located on
the eastern slope of Mt. Hallasan, was the capital of Jejudo Island in the 16th
Century. It is designated a folklore preservation zone in order to preserve the
unique Jejudo-style stone houses with thatched roofs. Friendly island people
still live in the 300 traditional houses that sit behind the stone courtyard
walls.
Transportation: An intercity bus leaves Jeju-si for
Seong-eup (Departing every 20 minutes for a 50-minute journey)

• Yangdong Folk Village
 About a 30-minute drive northeast of
Gyeongju is the village of Yangdong, which was a middle/upper class town during
the Joseon Dynasty. Over 150 small and large houses are built in harmony with
the hillsides so that almost all of the village can be seen from the road. Most
of the homes are still occupied by villagers but some are empty, making it more
convenient to examine them.

• Wanggok Village
 In Wanggok Village, Gangwon-do, just
north of Mt. Seoraksan, are 21 traditional Korean houses, mostly dating to the
1800s. They are built in the shape of the Korean Letter "" and have an anbang
(main bedroom), sarangbang (men's quarters), a wooden-floored hall and a
kitchen. A stable is usually attached to the kitchen, a convenience necessary in
long winters.

• Oeam-ri Folk Village
 In the Oeam-ri Folk Village, many
houses maintain their age-old appearance. There is an inexpressible beauty as
traditional yangban (aristocrat) class and straw thatched houses stand together
in harmony with a fresh water stream and a lush green forest. You will find 86
traditional houses, a guard post at the village entrance, and a mill , all
excellently preserved. The village allows visitors to step deep into the
past.

• Naganeupseong Folk Village
 Naganeupseong Fortress and its folk
village are designated as a historic site because the fortress, the government
official guesthouse and thatched-roofed houses are well-kept in their original
conditions. The village is unique in that 108 households are actually living
inside the fortress. Every year in October, in this old fortress town a huge
food festival is held featuring hundreds of traditional delicacies from
Jeollanam-do Province, the nation's epicurean home.

• Jeju Folk Village
 Renowned traditional craftsmen have
gathered to recreate this 19th century Jeju Island village. The distinct flavor
of traditional Jeju society, including the exceptional Jeju folk art
performances, is depicted in detail in this living, working
community.

• Cheonghakdong Village
 In Cheonghakdong Village, over 140
residents from 23 families preserve traditional Korean culture in their daily
life by dressing in time-honored fashion. They wear white. Young men and women
tie a pigtail ribbon at the end of their braided hair and women do up their hair
in chignons. Spiritually, people here live according to a blend of modern and
traditional civilization, and follow the traditional lifestyle of
Confucianism.

• Cheongpung Cultural Properties Complex
 Cheongpung Cultural
Properties Complex, located on the hillside overlooking Cheongpung Lake,
includes various cultural assets including commoner's houses, official
government buildings, Confucian schools, and stone sculptures. It is a
recreation of an ancient village. Over 1,900 pieces of traditional household
objects are exhibited.
