Yanggu Prehistoric Museum
The Prehistoric Museum features relics of the Stone Age excavated at Sangmuryong-ri, Yanggu-eup, dolmens from Godae-ri and Gongsu-ri, as well as stoneware and earthenware from the Bronze Age excavated from Hyeon-ri, Haean-myeon.
Joseon Folk Art Museum
The Joseon Folk Museum is located in the Gimsatgat Valley in Yeongwol, Gangwon-do. It features exhibits of the Joseon Minhwa. Minhwa is a traditional painting which expresses the joys and sorrows of people's lives. These paintings were done by amateur painters in the 17 ~ 18th century. Minhwa comes in various types, such as 'Hojakdo' which depicts a tiger and a magpie, 'Sansuhwa' which depicts a natural scenes, 'Hwahwedo' which depicts flowers such as the peony and the lotus, 'Hwajodo' which depicts flowers and birds, 'Yeongsuhwa' which depicts imaginary animals such as dragons or a mythical unicorn-lions.
Yeongwol Book Museum
The Yeongwol Book Museum was created by reconstructing a closed school. It is the nation's first book museum, housing a large collection of old and rare books. The museum collects, stores, displays and researches materials related to the culture of books, helping to establish an appreciation of books and a heightened awareness of their importance.
