• Hahoe Mask Museum
The Hahoe
Mask Museum houses intangible cultural assets such as Korean masks used in mask
drama performances and masks from about 30 countries around the world, such as
Papua New Guinea, Mexico, China, Indonesia, and New Zealand.
• Taejeong Folk Museum
The Taejeong Folk Museum is
the only museum in the world specializing in feldspar ornaments. Inside the
museum, the ceiling and both sides of the stairway leading to the exhibition
halls are dotted with various kinds of feldspar ornaments. The exhibition hall
on the second floor exhibits all types of letter-shaped feldspar embellishments,
as well as those which have shapes resembling flowers and animals such as
butterflies, the Chinese phoenix, deer and cranes. Feldspar mosaic pictures here
also depict the Chinese phoenix, playful fish, tigers and the Taegeuk (the
symbol of yin and yang in the Orient).
• Tongdosa Temple Seongbo Museum
Tongdosa
Seongbo (Sacred Art) Museum is the only Korean museum which specializes in
Buddhist paintings, and boasts a total of 30,000 artifacts of various types,
from prehistoric times to modern times. The museum has a collection of more than
600 Buddhist paintings in various genres, ranging from draft paintings to an
oversized painting with a total length of 15 meters. The Tongdosa Seongbo Museum
is recognized for having the largest number of Buddhist paintings anywhere in
the world.
