Hongdae-Ap
Introduction
The area around Hongik University
Hongik University is well known for its art department. In the 1980's, there were some pubs, small restaurants, used-book shops, art galleries and art institutions in the streets around the university. However, since the '90's the place has been filled up with uniquely decorated cafes and clubs. In the daytime, the area is the same as other university areas, but at night it becomes flamboyant and lively with young people searching for music and art. Also called "Picasso Street" for the many art-related shops, cafes and clubs, the street between Hongik University and Kukdong Broadcasting is the center of the area. Most of all, what makes this place unique is the live clubs where many underground rock groups perform.

Sinchon
Introduction
An area where some of Korea's leading universities are located Sinchon had long been the cultural center of Korea's young intellectuals until the role had be shared in the 90s with Daehangno ("College Street") in the eastern part of downtown Seoul. Packed with coffee shops, cafes, clubs, beer houses, restaurants and fashion shops, the area is still an important shopping and entertainment district among young people. One of its many good things about Sinchon is that prices are relatively cheap, a main attraction point among college students and others who should be careful about their spending. Sinchon is also where Seoul's first rock cafe was open, and the tradition of seeking after what is new in art and life still continues.
